For our Product Innovation department, we are looking for an Industrial Designer to join our Concept and Design team at Head Quarters in Odense. We are a dynamic cross-national team of more than 40 playground designers who create the world’s most innovative, imaginative, and bespoke play spaces and sport & fitness areas.

You will be a vital member of the HQ office with about 10 designers and workshop specialists, who are responsible for designing the products for our yearly launch of new and innovative products.

Unleash your creativity


As an industrial designer in our Concept and Design team, you will be responsible for creating fitness and playground equipment and designing the various components of which they are built. You will be responsible for your "own" projects and are expected to ensure progress and manage time consumption and deadlines.

You will be doing this by employing your skills within research, sketching, ideation, 3D modelling, visualizing, prototyping, testing etc., and of course always in the fruitful cooperation with the rest of the team and your manager. 

Further, your key tasks and responsibilities include:

•           Create new innovative products and solutions

•           Suggest and design components with construction and manufacturing in mind

•           Apply your skills within sketching, 3D-modelling, and prototyping

•           Manage and ensure progress on projects from ideation to finalization

•           Assist in the production of prototypes and attend user tests

•           Attend (and sometimes conduct) meetings with specialists and stakeholders

•           Ensure efficiency in collaborating with your colleagues through clear communication and hand-over. 
 

A skilled and creative Industrial Designer with technical expertise


You are an industrial designer with a well-developed process and a strong set of skills.

You have a creative mindset and a good technical understanding combined with an ability to illustrate and communicate. You are motivated by working on a variety of tasks and have a well-developed knowledge within materials and production methods. You are efficient and balance time management and creativity.

You hold a degree in the fields of Industrial Design or similar. You are a team player with an ambition to learn and develop new skills. You are sociable and helpful with a can-do attitude and a positive outlook. 

You are an experienced user of Rhinoceros or SolidWorks (and/or similar 3D modelling software) and have experience in Adobe Creative Suite. You already have some work experience and a track record to prove it.

As our Associate Product Manager, you will play a vital role in shaping the future of KOMPANs product development. You will continuously track and analyze product performance and assisting in all stages of the product development cycle to ensure our products meet the highest standards.

You will be responsible for gathering insight through customer interviews and dialogue with KOMPANs sales organization, while also supporting material samples boxes, content, and updates. Further, your key tasks and responsibilities include:

  • Develop and maintain KOMPAN brand books on existing- and new product lines like KOMPAN Corocord, KOMPAN Moments and KOMPAN Robinia.
  • Facilitate and manage photo sessions of new products in collaboration with Product Innovation and Marketing. Support catalogue solutions, content, and production.
  • Creating and maintaining product data including product tender specifications, product sheets and warranties for entire KOMPAN portfolio.
  • Support Global Marketing organization with ad hoc tasks like event planning, sales training, presentation support etc.

You will engage and cooperate with various stakeholders at all levels of the organization as Product Innovation, Product Management team and Head of Product Management, Local markets, sales managers, CMO. 

An analytical profile with a penchant for product innovation

You hold a degree in Business (e.g. Cand.merc), Innovation, Entrepreneurship, or a similar field. While having a couple of years of experience is a plus, it is not required for this role.

You work in a structured manner, have strong analytical skills, and possess practical experience or theoretical experience in driving product innovation. 

Further, you possess:

  • Solid presentation skills and are comfortable in presenting to business partners.
  • A commercial mindset with excellent business analysis competences.  
  • Proficiency in conducting market research to understand customer needs, market trends, and the competitive landscape
  • Proficiency in Excel, Power BI, and PowerPoint
  • Great English communication skills, both in spoken and written.
  • An understanding of stage gate management and potential experience and knowledge of agile ways of working is an advantage.

For KOMPAN A/S, we are looking for an experienced Product Safety Manager who will be located at our head office in Odense, Denmark. Here, you will be part of our Product Innovation team together with other specialists.

Central Role in Product Safety and Compliance

You will play a central role in KOMPAN’s development team, working in close collaboration with the rest of the organization on new and further development of exciting product lines. 

The focal point is the safety evaluation of customer-specific projects, where you will be involved from the idea stage right up to the handover to production. 

You will be the key safety person on the projects and an innovative and creative player in the interdisciplinary collaboration creating innovative solutions.

More specifically, your responsibilities include:

  • Being an expert within selected segments/product lines
  • Participating in the safety evaluation of customer-specific solutions designed and developed in KOMPAN's own Design Studios.
  • Participating in product development projects and providing safety input to designers and engineers.
  • Preparing test specifications.
  • In collaboration with the rest of the Product Safety team, defining KOMPAN's standard and test products and components against it. These tests are performed together with KOMPAN's own workshop or external partners.
  • Documenting that all relevant standards and legal requirements are met on new and existing products within the product line.
  • Engaging in dialog with certified third-party authorities, TÜV, UL, etc.

You will be part of the Product Safety department, which consists of 6 dedicated colleagues in Denmark and 3 in the Czech Republic. For the position, limited travel activity of 10-20 days per year is expected.

Product Safety and Compliance Expert with a Technical Background 

You hold an educational background as a mechanical or production engineer or similar and have been working with product safety for more than 5 years. You probably come from the manufacturing industry, with a focus on product development or quality assurance.

To be successful in the role, you must, in close collaboration with stakeholders and colleagues across the organization, maintain product safety in a direction where serious accidents on KOMPAN's playgrounds and other product lines are avoided. 

This is based on your analytical approach and a natural interest and curiosity for product development where quality and safety are paramount. 

You must understand the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration, both internally and externally, to jointly create the conditions for the best solutions.

Be a key person in the global development of installation  

As our new Group Installation Manager, you will be technically responsible for supporting markets with ongoing installations. You will play an important role in introducing new product installations to global markets and drive and develop our installation concepts. To ensure efficiency and identify future strategic initiatives, mapping installation execution in markets will also be a crucial part of your tasks. In close collaboration with local stakeholders, you will identify and implement new tools, procedures, and processes to optimize installation work globally.

To ensure the appropriate installation and follow up on product quality etc. a close collaboration with internal group functions as quality, product innovation and supply chain is important as well.

Your primary responsibilities also include: 

  • Technical installation training to build technical competence in global installation teams. 
  • Align project management tools with installation procedures.
  • Defining and creating installation instructions and ensuring best-in-class procedures globally. 
  • Support data maintenance on installation pricing. 

You will refer to the Group ISA Development Director and join a professional and result-oriented team with colleagues all over the world. You should expect around 30 days of traveling per year, but will be located at our headquarters in Odense, Denmark. 
 

An Installation Manager with technical expertise and commercial acumen 

You come with a technical background from an installation business or within a supply chain function where you have experience working with the entire value chain. You possess a commercial mindset and preferably have 5 years of experience with installation at a managerial level. 

As you will collaborate with stakeholders in all our subsidiaries, you come from an international environment and possess great stakeholder management skills and an understanding of cultural differences. 

As digitalization becomes more important, thinking digitalization into an installation setting is essential for development and success in the role.

Moreover, you:

  • Has been implementing work procedures, developing tools and processes to optimize installation business. 
  • Have experience working with installations in a project- or enterprise-based company. Project management experience is considered an advantage.
  • Have experience from working with CRM and ERP systems, preferably MS Dynamics 365 applications and Navision.
  • Are fluent in written and spoken Danish and English.

Get hands-on experience with an internship within Design & Concept

This role will give you knowledge of the design process in a growing, international set-up and credits to your CV that can’t be measured in ECTS. 
Concepts and products of playgrounds and fitness equipment are developed in the Design & Concept department by eleven employees and interns who all have a background in design or architecture. Here ideas, products and concepts arise. 

Throughout the development process there is a great collaboration with Product Engineering, Product Safety & Quality and KOMPAN Play Institute.

As an intern within this team, you will support our Designers working with exciting projects, and you will find yourself working with tasks such as:

  • Idea generation.
  • Design.
  • Hands-on work from drawings and choice of materials to muck-ups and models.


Talented student with an interest in 3D-drawings, materials, and design

To be successful in this internship, an understanding of 3D-drawings, materials, and design are a must.

You are currently attending the master’s or bachelor’s degree within design, architecture, engineering or similar and you have shown that you are talented within this field.

Further, you:

  • Bring a talent for applying theory in practice.
  • Are motivated by both idea generation and operational tasks.
  • Are committed and motivated to learn, which is reflected in your productive approach to the tasks. 


Practicalities

The fun and more challenging tasks will require you to be in the office around 4-5 days a week. 

The duration of the internship will be agreed upon with your studies in mind. 

KOMPAN is paying for your lunch, but otherwise the internship is unpaid.
