Key responsibilities

  • Preparation of quotations and tender estimates
  • Liaising with design colleagues, sales team and operations teams
  • Third party quotation management
  • Co-ordinating multiple projects simultaneously
  • Project management to ensure best practices are implemented 
  • Develop, implement and monitor policies and guidelines for design processes 
  • Reporting to management
  • Produce 3D visuals and illustrations/plans for submissions to clients
  • Respond to customer’s dreams and wishes with visionary new designs
  • Ensure efficiency in collaborating with you colleagues through clear communication and hand-over. 

Your profile

  • You have a creative eye
  • You have a design related degree, e.g. product designer, graphic designer, interior design 
  • You are proficient in AutoCAD and 3D Studio Max and have experience Photoshop

Inspection & Maintenance Engineer (North)

The Kompan aftersales department provide on-site inspections, repairs, full refurbishments, and maintenance on any manufacturers’ equipment, even those who have ceased trading. As an inspection and maintenance engineer you will be required to carry out operational inspections and minor repairs in playgrounds across the north of the country.

 

Due to continued growth we are looking for a field-based inspection and maintenance engineer who will carry out operational inspections and repairs with regular visits to our northern storage facilities to obtain and store parts. This role will be based in and around the M60 corridor, the ideal candidate will be located within this area.

The role will include the following.

  • Completion of operational inspections and risk assessments as specified in BS EN1176 using the Play Inspection Company APP or other software the company may choose to use. 
  • To ensure such inspections provide all necessary information for repair quotations to be produced accurately including measurements, quantities, manufacturer details and photographs. 
  • Contacting customers as and when required to advise your intended inspection date / time. 
  • Maintain effective communication with the office.
  • Identifying opportunities for larger repair and refurbishment works.
  • From time to time there may be a requirement to undertake basic corrective repairs these will form part of your responsibility always providing you have appropriate tools and equipment available in your vehicle or obtainable nearby.
  • Carry out repairs to an exceptional standard.
  • To ensure any vehicle stock is replenished as required by requesting replacement items based on usage to avoid out of stock situations. 
  • To provide a stock take of vehicle stock as and when requested. 
  • To contribute ideas and suggestions for improving the efficiency of your role. 
  • To provide support / training where required to other members of staff. 
  • To maintain all tools / equipment / PPE in good condition and request replacement items or repairs as required. 
  • To wear company branded workwear at all times (branded workwear will be provided). 
  • To clearly display ID badge. 
  • To comply in full with the companies code of conduct at all times. 
  • To maintain your vehicle in line with the company car policies. 
  • To undertake additional training where required. 
  • To always act safely and wear all appropriate PPE for the task set (PPE will be provided).

 

Experience

  • Experience of working within a construction, maintenance or service engineers’ 
  • Good customer service and communication skills. 
  • A problem solver with practical skills including experience of woodworking, surface repair, painting and mechanical repairs.
  • Ability to work on own initiative to a high level of accuracy and to meet deadlines.
  • A self-motivated individual who continually keeps abreast of industry and safety requirement changes.
  • Basic IT skills - Use of Microsoft Office products.
  • Ability to travel daily, so a full clean driving license is required.
  • RPII Operational inspection Qualification. (Will consider training for the right candidate).
  • Due to the nature of our business an Enhanced DBS check will be required.

Estimator

Due to further growth and internal promotions we are looking for an Estimator to join our pre-sales team in our Milton Keynes office. The primary role of the Pre-sales function is to assist our Regional and Area Sales Managers.

 

The Role

The primary focus of the role is to be the go to for pricing support to the business, with 2 Sales Support Coordinators as direct reports, tasks include:

  • Provide day to day pricing support to ASM’s, Designers, Sales Support Coordinators and Bid Managers.
  • Ongoing maintenance of our dynamic pricing model for all KOMPAN core equipment.
  • Development and maintenance of our Non-core pricing, liaising with contracts managers, ASM’s and analysing margin dilution to make informed changes.
  • Own our pricing guide book, with new pricing codes, technical specification and detail to set the KOMPAN standard, educating the wider business.
  • Responsibility for our purchasing relationships with third party suppliers, working to get best value, achieve delivery targets and improve quality standards.
  • Value engineering support on BIG quotes and tenders where price is key. The estimator will be key in optimizing pricing to give us a competitive advantage over our pricing matrix on Must Win projects
  • Together with their team or coordinators, the estimator will be responsible for quality checks on orders before they are handed over to contracts are correct, optimised and ready for installation.
  • Review draft terms and conditions proposed by clients, negotiate agreeable terms of contract and arrange for signature and return.

 

To be successful in this role a candidate or employee must demonstrate the following.

Technical Skills

  • Excellent mathematical understanding & competency with pricing software tools
  • Competent & experienced user of ERP/ MRP business systems 
  • Competent in reading and understanding technical CAD drawings to create price elements
  • Competent & experienced Excel user (formula building, V-Lookup etc)

Experience

  • Estimating and pricing of landscape, play or construction works 
  • RFQ to sub-contractor network & supply chain 
  • Forming successful supplier relationships 
  • Price negotiation and cost saving 
  • Good understanding of playground & outdoor sports installation methods and surfacing construction details
  • Experience of working alongside a bid team is an advantage to ensure the competitive and commercial requirements of the business are understood & met
  • Proven capability of multi-tasking and working to multiple fixed deadlines
  • Confident user of Microsoft Word, outlook, excel and ideally AutoCAD.
