Playground Inspection Engineer (West London)

The Kompan aftersales department provide on-site inspections, repairs, full refurbishments, and maintenance on any manufacturers’ equipment, even those who have ceased trading. 

We are looking to recruit a playground Inspection Engineer. We offer the opportunity to join a well-established, growing UK organization, focusing on delivering on-going play inspection and maintenance to our ever-growing existing client base. 

As an inspection engineer you will be required to carry out operational inspections and minor repairs in playgrounds across West London (Slough, Kingston-upon-thames, Watford + surrounding areas).

The role will include the following:

  • Completion of operational inspections and risk assessments as specified in BS EN1176 using the Play Inspection Company APP or other software the company may choose to use. 
  • To ensure such inspections provide all necessary information for repair quotations to be produced accurately including measurements, quantities, manufacturer details and photographs. 
  • To ensure that inspections are always undertaken in the most efficient manner possible taking into consideration local conditions such as weather, traffic and local events / holidays. 
  • Contacting customers as and when required to advise your intended inspection date / time. 
  • Maintain effective communication with the office.
  • Identifying opportunities for larger repair and refurbishment works.
  • To ensure any vehicle stock is replenished as required by requesting replacement items based on usage to avoid out of stock situations. 
  • To provide a stock take of vehicle stock as and when requested. 
  • To contribute ideas and suggestions for improving the efficiency of your role. 
  • To provide support / training where required to other members of staff. 
  • To maintain all tools / equipment / PPE in good condition and request replacement items or repairs as required. 
  • To wear company branded workwear at all times (branded workwear will be provided). 
  • To clearly display ID badge. 
  • To comply in full with the companies code of conduct at all times. 
  • To maintain your vehicle in line with the company car policies. 
  • To undertake additional training where required. 
  • To always act safely and wear all appropriate PPE for the task set (PPE will be provided).

Experience

  • Experience of working within a construction, maintenance or service engineers’ 
  • Good customer service and communication skills. 
  • A problem solver with practical skills including experience of woodworking, surface repair, painting and mechanical repairs.
  • Ability to work on own initiative to a high level of accuracy and to meet deadlines.
  • A self-motivated individual who continually keeps abreast of industry and safety requirement changes.
  • Basic IT skills - Use of Microsoft Office products.
  • Ability to travel daily, so a full clean driving license is required.
  • RPII Operational inspection Qualification. (Will consider training for the right candidate).
  • Due to the nature of our business an Enhanced DBS check will be required.

Contract Manager

Ensure the best KOMPAN projects to all our clients

As our new Contract Manager, you will be responsible for making sure that KOMPAN projects are planned properly prior to commencement and ensuring quality installation from start to finish. Strong level of cost management is a must, looking at areas within projects that give scope for margin enhancement. You will be the principle point of contact for our clients throughout and work closely with our Project Coordinators who provides back-office support.

Other key responsibilities include:

  • Carry out prestart meetings on every scheme
  • Being involved in handover meetings
  • Provide regular updates to our clients and Project Coordinator
  • Liaise with our Installers and make regular visits to site during the build phase to monitor progress against programme
  • Ensure all deliveries are monitored to meet planned start dates and any issues are communicated as early as possible
  • Ensure all issues or progress visits are photographed and site visit reports are completed and forwarded to the Project Coordinator and our clients within 24 hours
  • Participate in team meetings

This role will be covering part of the South or West England, as there will also be travel to sites and team meetings within the UK.

Experienced Contract Manager within the Play Industry

We are looking for a new colleague with the following profile:

  • Construction related project management experience
  • A Good knowledge of Play equipment
  • A positive approach to all tasks
  • Be able to plan and organize both familiar and new tasks
  • Customer Focused
  • Computer Literate [Microsoft packages - Word/Excel/Project]
  • Competency in customer communication & good telephone manner
  • Able to work on own initiative or with others on tasks with minimum supervision

Furthermore, we are looking for someone with the following qualifications:

  • SMSTS or SSSTS - Site Managers Safety Training Scheme or Site Supervisor level
  • CSCS Black Card
  • NVQ Level 6 in Construction and Site Management
  • RPII Level 2 Certificate
