KOMPAN is a world leader in the industry and is now searching for a Regional Sales Manager to support our UK business.

The Role

Our UK operation is looking for a colleague who will be responsible for both our Parc & Recreational sales as well as outdoor sport and fitness. You will be responsible for sales growth in your region.  You will take a lead role on key projects by working closely with pre-sales and our design teams. Furthermore, you will be in close contact with our marketing department in terms of lead generation, our installation team for customer satisfaction and our finance team.

Your core responsibilities will include:

  • Working on district action plans according to market coverage
  • Set targets and follow-up on KPIs
  • Pipeline management and follow-up on leads
  • Working closely with and aiding your team on sales projects
  • Focusing on market coverage in the central region of UK and spend time in the field with customers and colleagues
  • Manage win rates - conversion of quotes to orders
  • Ensure we reach our targeted profitability
  • Attract, develop and retain the best people
  • Focus on customer involvement and satisfaction

The Candidate

You are experienced in project sales and may have worked within the industries of playgrounds, fitness or similar industries. You are trustworthy and know how important it is to build confidence with our customers. Good communication skills are a must. As a person, you have a professional and proactive attitude. You are very hands-on in your approach.  

You may previously have worked in outdoor industries e.g. equipment, installation, surfacing, where you have worked on estimates, quotes and tenders with customers in the public sector, hospitality or parc and recreation.

Sales & Bid Coordinator

The Sales & Bid Coordinator role contributes to SALES GROWTH by supporting dedicated Area Sales Managers with QUOTES & TENDERS as required by each territory. This role also supports financial performance of the business through WIN RATE and influence of CORRECT PRICING and gatekeeping of MARGIN / DISCOUNTS that meets or exceeds company policy.

This role is based at our Milton Keynes office and is part of a team of Sales & Bid Coordinators whose primary function is to assist our field-based Area Sales Managers in quoting, tendering and selling complex ‘design & build’ packages to our existing and new customers. The role is assigned specific Area Sales Managers and is responsible for coordinating all projects through from enquiry to order stage within their regional territories. The Senior Coordinator role is also expected to use their skills & knowledge to support more junior roles in the team with their learning & development.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Being the main point of contact for your assigned Area Sales Managers
  • Review of Invitation to Tender (ITT) & PQQ documents to determine contractor tender return requirements. Create & execute an action plan for this.
  • Assembles, collates & edits written content for tender responses
  • Reviews and compiles standard documentation for incorporation into bids
  • To liaise & proactively collaborate with colleagues across the KOMPAN Group to gain comprehensive and relevant information for inclusion in bids.
  • Requesting, collating and editing additional content provided by other departments and 3rd parties to meet the client specification.
  • Effectively manages bid timeline & each project milestone (multiple projects at once) to ensure they are delivered on time and on budget with all key information to respond to the Tender included.
  • Provide quotations and product information to new & existing clients as required.
  • Adjusting pricing and creating the final quote and documentation packs using internal KOMPAN business systems, MS Word, Excel & PowerPoint.
  • Maintains detailed records & accurate data in the company’s business systems.
  • Raising and processing direct supply orders to our factory
  • Raising invoices for some customer types
  • Sourcing 3rd party pricing from suppliers as required for some projects.
  • Close liaison with colleagues and Team Leader/s to share best practice and workload
  • Liaison with senior management and European-wide business contacts
  • Review and create standard documentation for incorporation into bids
  • Drafting of method statements and content based upon the customer tender requirements
  • Contributes to the development and maintenance of the Bid Library documentation

Track record

  • Proven track record of prioritizing workload to meet agreed timescales & deadlines & ability to manage own workload in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment
  • Excellent PC/ IT skills with business systems & Microsoft packages
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
  • Experience of the construction/ landscape or similar industry
  • Track record of thriving in a dynamic team & fast paced environment
  • Some experience of using CRM systems is advantageous
  • Experienced in raising quotations, calculating detailed pricing with profit margins
  • Actively demonstrates the KOMPAN Group values for behaviour in Passion, Progress, Performance & People towards customers and colleagues
  • Consistent high standard of customer service to Area Sales Managers & end customers
  • A team player with strong organisational and prioritisation skills
  • Structured and accurate, especially with data input skills, excellent attention to detail

  • Able to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
  • Proven track record of successful bid writing & creating compelling sales documents including pricing & quotations
  • Proven capability to take the lead in responding to Tender Framework and multi-site/ complex bids
  • Experience of Bid Project Management & tendering for Local Authorities
  • Able to work autonomously with excellent project management skills, proactively managing personal workload and supporting others with setting their own priorities
