KOMPAN US is looking for a dynamic and detail-oriented Project Manager to join our team in Austin, TX. In this role, you will oversee the local installation of playground and outdoor fitness sites, while collaborating with KABOOM! to lead 40+ community-driven playground builds across the U.S.
The Project Manager will manage the technical aspects of the installation of playgrounds and outdoor fitness sites by planning, scheduling, costing, reviewing, and ensuring the smooth and uninterrupted service across a variety of sites ranging in complexity and size. For more than 50 years, KOMPAN has researched, designed, and built innovative and imaginative commercial playground equipment and outdoor fitness sites that captivate all ages and abilities.
In collaboration with our global headquarters in Denmark, KOMPAN designs, manufactures, and installs more than 1,000 sites a month across 90 different countries. Our North American headquarters, located in Austin, Texas, supports field sales around the U.S. and Canada.

What You’ll Do
- Manage all technical aspects of playground and outdoor fitness installations, ensuring high-quality execution across multiple nationwide projects at varying phases.
- Lead prestart, progress, and handover meetings for local KOMPAN installations (15%) and nationwide KABOOM! installations (85%), handling scope changes and ensuring customer expectations are met.
- Review product designs, proposals, and contracts for compliance with engineering principles, company standards, and customer requirements, while defining project timelines and installer/volunteer needs.
- Build strong relationships to drive successful volunteer-led projects and third-party installations.
- Communicate regularly with internal and external teams to provide project updates and ensure smooth execution.
- Ensure delivery of high-quality end products, meeting build standards and specifications.
Project Planning
- Prepare and approve job forecasts, ensuring installer compliance with project specifications and requirements.
- Coordinate site prep, material ordering, and deliveries to ensure smooth project flow.
- Lead weekly meetings to collaborate with stakeholders and provide regular project updates, discussing project goals, budget, construction logistics.
- Partner with KABOOM! to lead a community-driven installation process, ensuring stakeholder engagement and alignment.
On-Site Installations and Event Leadership
- Supervise third-party installers and volunteers, ensuring installations are completed on time and meet quality standards.
- Partner with KABOOM! to lead 3-4 day playground installation events across the U.S., ensuring seamless operations of event logistics and a positive volunteer experience.
- Monitor job sites to ensure safety, organization, and availability of necessary materials and tools.
- Manage the post-build process, providing handover packs to customers / community partners that address warranties, maintenance plans, and communicate future needs.
What You’ll Need
- College degree in a related field, with 3+ years of experience (or 8+ years of experience in lieu of education).
- Previous project management experience with both small and large construction projects is required.
- Thorough understanding of the construction industry, including pre-construction work such as planning, design, review, value engineering, project scheduling, and conceptual estimating.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills to interact with a variety of stakeholders.
- Strong team leadership and ability to manage high-stress situations.
- Excellent time management, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Willingness to travel up to 80% of the year.
