Reporting to the Design Director, the Safety & Compliance Lead is responsible for ensuring that all playground designs meet or exceed relevant safety standards and regulatory requirements. They will provide expert guidance on compliance throughout the design process, helping to ensure that all play environments are safe, accessible, and aligned with industry best practices and legal obligations.

 

The Safety & Compliance Lead plays a critical role in supporting D&V by developing and maintaining clear safety protocols, training materials, and documentation. They will also serve as a key point of contact for safety-related inquiries from both internal and external stakeholders. This role supports KOMPAN’s mission of helping to create "Happier, Healthier Communities" by ensuring that every play space is not only inspiring and inclusive, but also safe and compliant.

 

This position will collaborate closely with other departments in back-office roles such as Pre Sales, Project Sales Coordination, Project Coordination, and Install, as well as with on-site colleagues working in the field such as Project Managers and Sales Representatives. The Safety & Compliance Lead will also work in tandem with the regulatory bodies such as ASTM and IPEMA to stay informed on regulatory updates and translate them into actionable guidance for local projects.

What You’ll Do

 

  • Ensure all playground designs comply with applicable safety standards, regulations, and accessibility requirements.
  • Provide guidance and oversight to the design team to support safe and compliant design outcomes.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of local and international playground safety standards (e.g., ASTM, CPSC, ADA, EN).
  • Collaborate with the global safety team to interpret and implement regulatory updates across projects.
  • Develop and deliver internal training on safety and compliance protocols for design and cross-functional teams.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for safety and compliance-related inquiries across departments.
  • Create and manage safety documentation, checklists, and quality assurance tools to support project delivery.
  • Overseas senior design team members reviewing design plans for compliance approval before handoff to project coordination and installation teams.
  • Assist in the onboarding of new employees by educating them on safety-related processes and standards.
  • Support cross-functional collaboration with departments including Pre Sales, Project Sales Coordination, Project Coordination, Install, and Sales.
  • Conduct audits or spot checks of design packages and project documentation to ensure ongoing compliance.
  • Participate in project meetings as needed to advise on safety implications and requirements.
  • Promote a culture of safety awareness and accountability across the organization.
  • Take on a set percentage of design casework, as determined by the Design Director, to maintain hands-on involvement with current projects and tools.
  • All other duties as assigned.

 

Supervisory responsibilities required of this job:

 

  • Provide functional leadership and subject matter expertise to the design team regarding safety and compliance standards.
  • Oversee the implementation of safety and compliance protocols across all design projects.
  • Mentor and support designers and project staff on best practices for creating compliant play environments.
  • Lead safety-related training sessions for new and existing staff within the design department and related teams.
  • Review and provide feedback on the safety aspects of design outputs to ensure alignment with regulatory standards.
  • Coordinate with department leads to ensure safety and compliance expectations are clearly communicated and upheld across teams.
  • May supervise temporary staff, interns, or safety-focused project roles on a case-by-case basis.

 

 

The travel requirements of this job:

 

  • Occasional travel is required to attend industry conferences, training sessions, and standards committee meetings.
  • Expected annual attendance at key events such as ASTM International and IPEMA (International Play Equipment Manufacturers Association) conferences to stay current with safety standards and contribute to industry discussions.
  • Additional travel may be required for site visits, audits, or cross-functional meetings as needed.

What You’ll Do

  • Analyze and qualify incoming RFPs (including individual projects and framework agreements) in collaboration with sales professionals
  • Coordinate and facilitate project meetings for each opportunity, managing multiple projects in parallel
  • Define appropriate strategies and coordinate timely submission of deliverables from Sales, Design, Installation/Service, Finance, and Sales Coordination teams
  • Capable of maintaining operational and ad hoc reporting related to proposal activity 
  • Maintain framework agreements by managing price lists, preparing renewal documents, ensuring data accuracy, and meeting submission deadlines
  • Manage post-bid activities, including revisions, client follow-ups, and reason codes
  • Regularly update keywords for bidding search engines and databases; generate reports on win-rates and other performance metrics 
  • Ensure compliance with government regulations at the local, state, and federal levels
  • Foster strong, ongoing collaboration with dedicated sales professionals across regions
  • Act as liaison between the Sales and Legal teams, ensuring accurate and timely coordination of bid forms and contractual documentation
  • Provide quoting and design support to colleagues as needed

 

 

What You’ll Need

  • 3+ years of experience in bids, proposal coordination, RFPs, contracts, or a related field (construction industry or public sector experience preferred)

  • Experience with pricing, margin calculations, and financial analysis (Excel proficiency required)

What You’ll Do

Strategic Leadership & Growth

  • Develop and execute a multi-channel sales strategy that unlocks growth across National Accounts, Inside Sales, Bid & Proposal, and Indoor Play.
  • Build a 3-5-year roadmap for market penetration, channel expansion, and revenue acceleration.
  • Partner with the VP Sales and Executive Team on annual planning, forecasting, resource allocation, and organizational design.

National Accounts Leadership

  • Lead a team selling into a $500M market including national early childhood and childcare providers, national housing and global leisure and hospitality operators, high-velocity Inside Sales and public Bid environments (e.g. public and private school networks, municipal park and planning entities, etc.)
  • Establish enterprise-level sales frameworks, national pricing strategies, and multi-site programmatic selling.
  • Drive multi-year agreements and recurring revenue opportunities with service and maintenance platforms.

Inside Sales Management

  • Lead a team of 16 Inside Sales Representatives driving outbound prospecting, inbound qualification, and high-velocity sales support for an extensive field sales organization.
  • Install systems for productivity, lead handling, opportunity qualification, and performance management that afford scaling to more than double the present roster.
  • Enable seamless collaboration with Marketing, Field Sales, and Customer Care.

Bid/Tender Operations

  • Oversee the Bid & Proposalteam (4 people) to improve win rates, standardize proposal quality, streamline cross-functional inputs, and implement scalable processes that embrace emerging IT/AI platforms.
  • Ensure compliance, accuracy, risk mitigation, and competitiveness in all submissions.

Indoor Play Business Unit (Build & Launch)

  • Build the Indoor Play sales function from the ground up, including hiring, process creation, positioning, and go-to-market structure.
  • Create integration points with Design, Marketing, and product teams as the business scales.

Team Leadership & Culture

  • Develop leaders and future leaders within each channel; install clear KPI frameworks and accountability systems.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, transparency, and high performance across diverse sales motions.
  • Recruit top talent while upgrading capabilities across all four teams.

Revenue, Forecasting & Performance Management

  • Own channel revenue targets and deliver predictable results through disciplined pipeline management.
  • Build reporting dashboards, implement CRM best practices, and align forecasting methodologies across teams.
  • Track, analyze, and communicate performance KPIs to senior leadership.

Cross-Functional Partnerships

  • Work closely with Marketing, Operations, Design, Finance, and Customer Care to ensure frictionless customer experiences.
  • Lead strategic initiatives that integrate customer data, targeting, and market intelligence to improve engagement, retention, and lifetime value.

Other Duties

What You’ll Need

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or related field; MBA strongly preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressive sales leadership experience, including managing multi-team, multi-channel revenue organizations.
  • Proven success scaling teams of 20+ reps across at least 2-3 different sales motions (e.g., enterprise, inside sales, channel/partner, bid/tender, vertical markets).
  • Experience selling into large strategic accounts and multi-site organizations with relatable construction and operations engagement.

  • Build relationships with key stakeholders at federal agencies, military family housing, Morale, Welfare and Recreation (MWR) directorates, Veterans Affairs (VA) facilities, National Guard & Reserve facilities, and other related public-sector entities

What You’ll Need

  • Bachelor’s degree in business/marketing, exercise physiology, kinesiology, health and wellness, sports management, or related field is preferred
  • 5+ years of sales experience in a customer-facing, activities based selling model, within the military / government contracting space
  • Proven track record of managing and growing national accounts, especially in GSA, federal, military, or government sectors
  • Strong knowledge of government procurement processes, including GSA schedules, federal contracting requirements, and compliance
  • Proficiency with CRM platforms (e.g., Salesforce, Microsoft Dynamics) for pipeline management and reporting.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with high-level government stakeholders
  • Strategic thinker with a deep understanding of the unique challenges and opportunities in the federal sector

What You’ll Do

  • Process bi-weekly or semi-monthly payroll using payroll software.
  • Reconcile payroll sub-ledger to the general ledger and assist with month-end close.
  • Prepare and distribute payroll reports for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Maintain payroll records and ensure data accuracy and confidentiality.
  • Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll issues and resolve discrepancies.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll laws and regulations.
  • Assist with audits, tax filings, and year-end reporting (e.g., W-2s).
  • Collaborate with HR on compensation changes, benefits deductions, and onboarding/offboarding processes.

What You’ll Do

· Create shop drawings/site plans detailing layout, permitting, and installation requirements that are compliant to ASTM, CPSC, ADA, or CSA

· Use equipment selection, customization, juxtaposition and surfacing design to tell stories and build engaging experiences

· Communicate and collaborate with Sales Representatives, Quoting, and Installation departments as well as Product Designers at home office to design projects to client specifications on time and on budget

· Work within a regional group of designers to coordinate work and project responsibilities

· Assess preliminary project layouts for code compliance

· Create visually compelling presentations that tell a story about proposed design solutions

· Occasionally present design solutions to clients or end users

 

 

What You’ll Need

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD (or experience with Rhino, Revit, ArchiCAD, Microsystems, or similar CAD software), Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite
  • A Bachelor’s degree or higher in an applicable field including landscape architecture, landscape design, interior design, architectural design, etc.
  • Experience in landscape architecture, landscape design, interior design, architectural design, playground design, amusement park design, waterpark design, etc. is preferred
  • Experience applying code or technical constraints to design solutions
  • Familiarity with reading site plans and designing in topographically challenging situations
  • Ability to work effectively, both independently and in a team environment
  • Strong communication and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects at once

What You’ll Do

Billing & Invoicing

  • Generate and send customer invoices accurately and on time
  • Monitor aging reports and follow up on outstanding balances
  • Address and resolve billing discrepancies or client inquiries

Deposits & Collections

  • Record incoming payments (checks, ACH, wire, credit card, etc.)
  • Reconcile daily deposits and apply them to appropriate accounts
  • Assist with proactive collection efforts and escalate as needed

Travel & Expense Administration

  • Review employee expense reports for policy compliance and accuracy
  • Maintain accurate records for audits and reporting
  • Perform administrative tasks associated with set up and maintaining travel accounts

General Accounting Tasks

  • Support month-end close activities (e.g., journal entries, reconciliations)
  • Maintain accounting files and documentation for audit readiness

What You’ll Need

  • 1-2 years of experience in an accounting role 
  • Internship or co-op experience in a finance/accounting team (a plus but not required)
  • Strong Excel skills and experience with accounting or expense platforms (e.g., QuickBooks, Acubiz, Egencia, NetSuite, SAP)
  • Attention to detail with a knack for catching discrepancies
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize in a deadline-driven environment
