Reporting to the Vice President of Operations, the Manager, External Installation is responsible for leading KOMPAN’s team of Project Managers, that oversee the end-to-end planning, delivery, and installation of playground and fitness equipment across North America. This role carries full accountability for project execution, team development, and strategic initiatives that drive revenue growth across installation projects, while ensuring that the region operates efficiently and profitably. This role combines hands-on technical expertise with strategic oversight, ensuring high-quality installations that align with company goals and customer expectations. Project Managers are regionally distributed throughout the United States and manage vendor relationships for the installation of KOMPAN equipment, surfacing, and other third-party products.

Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership
- Develop and execute the long-term strategy for external installations, aligning with company objectives and growth plans.
- Develop and implement operational strategies that drive revenue growth, improve efficiency, and ensure job profitability.
- Oversee the prioritization and allocation of resources across multiple installation projects to maximize business impact, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives, proper staffing, and adherence to scope, budget, and schedule.
- Analyze performance metrics and industry trends to inform strategic decisions and improve operational efficiency.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Engineering, Sales, Operations, and Customer Success) to ensure seamless project delivery.
- Facilitate communication and coordination among internal teams and external vendors to minimize roadblocks and maintain alignment on project goals and timelines. Act as a neutral escalation point to resolve project-related challenges.
Installation Oversight (Matrix Organization)
- Coordinate cross-functional installation efforts by collaborating with external teams and internal business units, ensuring alignment with project timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
- Facilitate site assessments and installation planning in partnership with business unit leaders, providing technical guidance and support while respecting dotted-line accountability structures.
- Promote compliance with safety regulations, engineering protocols, and customer specifications through shared oversight and influence across business units.
- Monitor project performance using standardized KPIs, driving quality assurance, financial stewardship, and continuous improvement through collaborative review and feedback loops.
- Support Project Managers and business unit stakeholders in resolving complex installation challenges, leveraging matrixed relationships to escalate and address issues effectively.
Process Improvement
- Identify opportunities for process optimization and implement best practices across installation workflows.
- Develop and maintain documentation, SOPs, and training materials for installation procedures.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Construction, or Industrial Engineering (or related field), or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years of experience in installation management, field operations, or engineering.
- Demonstrated ability to lead strategic initiatives and manage cross-functional teams.
- Strong understanding of technical installation processes and engineering principles.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Willingness to travel to installation sites as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in scaling installation operations across multiple regions or markets.
- Familiarity with project management tools and ERP systems.
- Certifications in project management (e.g., PMP) or safety compliance are a plus.

This role requires up to 70% local and domestic travel.
